About
Jon, and why this page exists
My name is Jon. I work a regular office job and come home to a flat in Ang Mo Kio where the corridor always smells faintly of someone else's frying pan. I am not a journalist, a guidebook writer, or anyone's spokesperson. DailyRush is where I put down the things I notice on the way to everything else.
I started writing here because I kept losing small moments. The way the ticket gate beeps differently when your card is low. The heron that stands on the same park bridge most Thursdays. The uncle at the kopitiam who remembers your order before you reach the counter. These aren't events worth announcing — they are the texture of a life, and I wanted a place to keep them without pretending they mean more than they do.
Most of what I write happens within walking distance of home: Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Teck Ghee market, the MRT interchange, the void deck where aunties fold flyers in the afternoon. I walk a lot. I drink kopi more often than my doctor would probably prefer. I carry a notebook that gets damp in my market bag when it rains.
I write in the first person because that's the only honest way I know. If I describe a person, it's someone I saw briefly — never named, never reduced to a type. If I get a detail wrong about a place, I'd rather you email me than scroll past in silence.
DailyRush is one person's notebook. There is no editorial team, no comment section full of strangers performing opinions, no newsletter funnel. If you read something here and it reminds you of your own block, your own kopitiam, your own park path — that's enough.
