Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for DailyRush is Jon, reachable at [email protected] or Blk 217 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, #02-18, Singapore 560217. This is a personal blog, not a company. There is no separate data protection officer; enquiries about privacy may be sent to the same contact details.

2. What personal data I collect

I collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate a small personal website:

Contact form data: When you submit the contact form, I collect your name, email address and message content. You must tick the consent checkbox before sending; consent is not pre-selected.

Technical and server logs: My hosting provider may automatically record information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, date and time of access, and pages viewed. I do not use this data to identify individuals unless required for security or legal purposes.

Cookies and similar technologies: Essential cookies may be used for basic site operation. Analytics cookies are used only if you accept them via the cookie banner. Cookie preferences are stored locally in your browser for up to six months.

I do not operate user accounts, newsletters, e-commerce checkout, or comment systems on this site. I do not knowingly collect data from children under thirteen.

3. Purposes of collection and use

Personal data is collected and used for the following purposes:

To respond to messages you send through the contact form; to maintain the security and integrity of the website; to understand general traffic patterns if you have consented to analytics cookies; to comply with applicable laws, regulations or lawful requests; and to protect my legitimate interests in operating a personal blog without fraud or abuse.

I will not use your contact details for unsolicited marketing. I do not sell, rent or trade personal data to third parties.

4. Legal basis and consent

Under the PDPA, I rely on your consent for contact form submissions and for non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal, but may limit my ability to respond to prior enquiries or maintain certain preferences.

Some processing — such as server security logs — may be necessary for legitimate purposes related to site operation and safety.

5. Disclosure to third parties

I may share personal data only in these limited circumstances: with my email and hosting providers who process data on my behalf to deliver messages and serve the website; where required by law, court order or regulatory authority in Singapore; or to protect the rights, property or safety of myself or others where reasonably necessary.

Third-party providers are selected with care and are expected to handle data in a manner consistent with applicable law. I remain responsible for personal data in my possession or under my control.

6. International transfers

The website is hosted in Singapore. Email delivery may route through servers located outside Singapore depending on your provider and mine. Where personal data is transferred overseas, I take reasonable steps to ensure recipients provide a standard of protection comparable to the PDPA.

7. Retention

Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference (typically up to twelve months), unless a longer period is required by law or a continuing correspondence. Server logs are retained according to my host's default rotation schedule. Cookie consent choices expire after six months, after which the banner will appear again.

8. Cookies in detail

Essential cookies support basic functions such as remembering your cookie choice. Analytics cookies, if enabled, help me understand aggregate page views and referral sources. You may accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customise preferences via the banner. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Rejecting analytics cookies does not prevent you from reading the blog or submitting the contact form.

9. Your rights under the PDPA

Subject to exceptions under the PDPA, you may request access to personal data about you that I hold, request correction of inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for future collection, use or disclosure. You may also inquire about how your data has been used in the past year where applicable.

To exercise these rights, email [email protected] with sufficient detail for me to identify your request. I will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with my response, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) in Singapore.

10. Security

I take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS where supported, honeypot spam protection on the contact form, and limited access to email accounts. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; I cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Links to other sites

This blog may link to external websites (for example, font providers). I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their policies separately.

12. Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when revisions are made. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

This is a personal blog. Everything here is written by me and reflects my own experiences, opinions and memories at the time of writing. Posts are personal reflections and are not professional, medical, legal, financial or fitness advice. Places and everyday moments are described from my own point of view; I don't name or speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood kindly and honestly.
